Welcome to Mr. Coggi's Class!

Welcome to Mr. Coggi’s Kindergarten class!  More information is available on my off-network site at http://room21.info.   Everyday is filled with learning and fun.   Keep checking back to see what's new.  I am constantly in the process of re-working my web presence and hope that it is an improvement.

This page helps show what we’re doing here at school, and also to help keep parents informed about our activities.  This is a great way for extended family members living elsewhere to find out what’s happening.

Students use interactive whiteboard technology to help make learning fun and exciting.  Promethean (our whiteboard vendor) makes a student edition of the software that can be downloaded and used at home.  Please email me for information. With it, you are able to load and view the flipcharts that I am using in my classroom.  Many of my classroom resources are available for my students at http://www.ActivClass.us. This includes learning objectives, homework packets, songs and other materials. Email me for the guest access passowrd.

Our Reading Program also has an online component which students are welcome to use at home to help them with their reading.  Letters with log-in credentials have been sent home. The site is at: https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com. Their login info is the same for their Discovery Education account at http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com. My students have separate accounts for http://www.kerpoof.com and http://www.animoto.com. You should have received this information in your child's folder. If you need me to send the information again, please contact me.

Are you on Twitter?  You can follow us at http://twitter.com/Room21K .

We use the Balanced Literacy model which combines direct instruction as well as centers for guided  and independent practice.  If you have any questions about why we do something, please ask!

New!>> Click here to view a video of our 2009-10 class in action in MP4 format. (14MB) The video was composed by Animoto, who has graciously provided us with student accounts.  Several of our students have used this to convert their powerpoint stories to music videos.

Thanks to my favorite songwriter, Jeff Bosset, from Santa Barbara, California for supplying the background music for my webpages.
